My phone has been lost or stolen, what now?

If you've lost, misplaced or your handset has been stolen, please call us as SOON as you can on: 1300 555 100 (or +61 2 8860 9848 if you're calling from overseas) so we can block outgoing services for you.

We can then carry out either, or both, of the following options:

  1. Block the handset to prevent it being used by other SIM cards/services.
  2. Bar the SIM card to prevent people racking up charges on your account - this is why it is ESSENTIAL you contact us as soon as you realise your handset is 'missing'.

BARRING THE SIM CARD:
Barring the SIM card will prevent all incoming and outgoing calls and SMS from your SIM card/service. We will need to BAR your SIM card so that it cannot be used with your, or another's, handset.

NOTE TO SELF:
You are liable for all charges incurred on your SIM card/service up to the time you report it Lost or Stolen with our Customer Service Team.

BLOCKING YOUR HANDSET:
When a handset is reported as lost or stolen, we can use the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) to block it. That way, another user will NOT be able to make or receive calls or SMS when using your handset.

Only Emergency Services, like 000, will still be available.

The IMEI is a 15-Digit number that uniquely identifies an individual handset.

If you've lost or misplaced your handset, our Customer Service Team will be able to provide you with it. You can contact us on 1300 555 100

Requests to have an IMEI blocked are usually completed within 48 hours.

CHARGES:
There's NO charge to have your SIM or mobile blocked - WOO HOO!
By barring the SIM card we can prevent any outgoing services being charged to your account/service.
If/when you do find your SIM card, let us know and we'll remove the restrictions!

In the event that you're unable to find your SIM card and require a new one, we can send you a Replacement SIM card at a fee of $15.

This Replacement SIM will have your existing service number but it will be a brand NEW SIM card so it will NOT have any of your stored information or content.

NOTE TO SELF:
Barring your SIM card, or blocking your handset, does NOT cancel your commitment with Virgin Mobile.
You will be liable for ongoing minimum monthly spend (and any extra fees) for the remaining period of your commitment, dependent on the plan you are signed up for.
